Collegium Vocale Hannover Choir, conducted by Florian Lohmann (Germany)
About the Concert:
Festive opening concert of the 4th Liturgical Festival: Collegium Vocale Hannover, an exceptional international chamber choir, returns to our stage after having been hosted in the festival's first year. This time, in full ensemble: 36 male and female singers, conducted by Florian Lohmann (Germany). A rich program of unaccompanied (a cappella) liturgical music, at the center of which is British composer Charles Hubert Parry's piece: Farewell Hymns—a wonderful repetoire of English-language songs lesser known in our region. In the second part of the program, the choir will perform a variety of pieces from late-stage German Romanticism: Brahms, Reger, and Arnold Schoenberg’s motet, Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth), that lends its name to this concert.
