Michal Beck, Cello
Cellist Michal Beck, recipient of the top prize in the 2015 Aviv Competition in Israel, holds a successful career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player. A Graduate of the Buchmann Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, she received her Artist Diploma with distinction from HMT Leipzig. Among her teachers were Hillel Zori, Shmuel Magen, Jean Guihen Queyras and Peter Bruns. When Michal was only 15, she joined the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, a unique project led by maestro Daniel Barenboim, and with this orchestra she toured the globe, playing in prestigious venues such as Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna and the Proms in London. As a Cellist in the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, Michal participated in recording Beethoven complete Symphonies for UK recording label Decca in 2012. As a Soloist and chamber musician, Michal performed in various Festivals, such as Schleswig Holstein, Zermatt Festival and Open Chamber Music Prussia Cove, and with the Buchmann Mehta School of Music Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, among others. During the past few years Michal has lived in Germany and had the privilege to play with top orchestras and as of this season, Michal has been appointed Principal Cellist in the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion.
